In “Destilysion” you get absorbed into the pieces of a broken place and have to wander through them. A decision waits for you at the end. Depending on what you choose, you return to one or another version of reality.

The visual elements of the game are acrylic paintings, which were edited to become 2D textures in a 3D world. For each scene a different soundtrack was created and combined of various synth and piano compositions, field recordings and distorted noise. Sounds such as light switches being flipped, paper being crunched or a window being opened and closed were used as sound effects. “Destilysion” was developed with the game engine Godot.

“Destilysion” was part of the Hochschule für Künste Bremen’s Meisterschüler:innen exhibition of 2025 “what is that invisible thing your arm is resting on”. The installation contained a wide projection of the game with seating bags and a set up with keyboard and mouse in front, with which the visitors were able to play the game. The exhibition took place at the Weserburg in Bremen from June 28 to August 10 2025.
